April Fool's Day children's party. This themed party idea is also for older people or any other group. Might have program of April Fool jokes, but let theme be gaiety. Noisemakers and surprise gadgets will help carry out theme.

Armistice Day. Theme of world peace will put serious note into party but will not make serious affair of it. One way to carry out this themed party idea, is to have several nationalities represented, and if possible ask each to demonstrate some national characteristics, such as dances, costumes, or ideas.

Beggars' night. Good party variation for Halloweens night, but can be held on another night. Children "haunt" neighborhood asking for partly worn clothing. They gather with their collections at bonfire for singing, games, and apples. Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, or similar service agency would appreciate receiving used clothing collected.

Big kids party. With this themed party idea, everyone comes dressed as five-year-old, at least to best of his ability. Part of fun might be to act like five year olds for a while. There should be either games or dancing and awards for best costumes.

Bowling social. Planned themed party by invitation centered around bowling alley reserved for occasion. In addition to regular bowling, program of novelty events, such as rolling ball down alley between legs and picking off split pins, finishing off with party and refreshments using bowling alley theme.

Box party. This themed party idea can be adapted to co-ed groups with equal number of men and women. Can be picnic. Each woman brings box meal for two; each man buys, wins, or chooses box and eats with lady who brought it. Color schemes can be followed if group is small.

Candy pull. In times gone by, many candy recipes called for pulling, rather tedious job for one or two, but hilarious fun for group. Committee or hostess has one or more taffy recipes at pulling stage. For this themed party idea, guests, wearing short sleeves, wash hands and arms and pull, in teams of two. After all that work, it's only fair to give everybody samples of taffy to chew.

Card party. Door prizes, table prizes, and good fellowship are what make fun in this themed party idea. Serve teatime or evening refreshments.

Chicken barbecue. For outdoor all-day party or for supper at campsite or any place where there are enough facilities to do barbecue. Cooks in group like to take over. Others can give advice or just eat.

Chuck wagon dinner. This themed party idea is with outdoor barbecue or steak roast. Old wagon, if available, or decorated station wagon acts as kitchen and headquarters. Costume party with cowboy or wrangler outfits will be colorful.

Civic Halloween carnival. Take leadership in organizing municipal party including parade for youngsters and prizes for costumes. Encourage organizations with facilities to conduct special activities such as Halloween dance, or encourage city recreation department to hold block dances. Try to get Mardi Gras motif.

Coffee hour. Weekly meeting of hour or so to talk, over steaming coffee. If desired, informal program can be arranged in progressive series so that no one will want to miss any "hours."

College night. For this themed party idea, have participants dress the part. If old wardrobe is available encourage its use. Contests and games by individual college teams. Invite outstanding alumni as guests. College yell contest might be interesting feature.

Columbus Day. Discovery might be the themed party idea. Games featuring discovery of hidden article or hidden idea would be appropriate. Short trip, especially in sailboat, would be novel way to celebrate. Then of course there are readings and pageants. Indian dances and themes would also be appropriate.

Community singing. Especially delightful outdoors around fire, but can be more varied indoors with instrumental accompaniment and printed words. Good activity conducted informally and spontaneously, or more formally with conductor.

Constitution Day. Flag decorations and stressing of patriotic themes. Someone might write short play about how Constitution was written or about benefits of some of its provisions and its meaning for Americans. There can also be Constitution Day celebrations for other organizations. Refreshments might end ceremonies with this themed party idea.

Corn boil social. Set big vat over fire out of doors and boil corn. For entertainment have "corny joke" contest.

Corn-popping party. Winter is best season for this themed party idea, possibly at end of sleigh ride or toboggan party. Any kind of fire will do, even apartment gas range. Guests may take turns jiggling corn popper until enough corn is popped to satisfy all appetites. Lots of butter makes it good.

Costume festival for children. Children come dressed in whatever costumes their parents can devise. They parade before judges and are given awards, which may be ribbons or something more valuable.
